> the fact that Facebook change their TOS back so quickly is an indication that they knew they were wrong in the first place

No, it's an indication they didn't expect everyone to get their balls in a knot and decided to just revert it since they never planned on any sort of shady behavior in the first place.

We all need to just fucken chill about the 'privacy' of our status updates and shit, I mean, who really gives a rats ass? You, apparently. Me, I've got more important things on my mind.

@yoda Control and ownership are two different aspects. I understand the data lies in control of the site which has that data. What I am uncomfortable is that for all practical purposes facebook gets an irrevocable license to do what it may please with that data including sublicensing it.

Sharing a piece of originally authored or privately shared content or pictures is different than transferring its near ownership to the site which hosts it. Facebook is blurring that difference under its new TOS.

Once you post anything to a public website, you lose control of it...Once you email a picture to another person you also lose control of it.

why should this surprise anybody?

Use your head!

There may be a filing of class-action lawsuit against Facebook. Our own photos, artworks or any content uploaded to users' Facebook accounts does NOT belong to Facebook forever nor any image/content in users' accounts be used to promote Facebook without users' expressed permission.
